Spravato® Treatment in Kalamazoo, MI

When Antidepressants Aren’t Enough, SPRAVATO® Offers a New Path Forward

Spravato® is an FDA-approved nasal-spray treatment for eligible adults with treatment-resistant depression. It is prescribed and administered in a certified clinic, with monitoring after every dose.

Spravato®: A Breakthrough in Depression Treatment

Spravato® is an in-clinic prescription treatment for adults whose depression has not improved enough after prior antidepressant treatment. It works through a different pathway than standard oral antidepressants.

Treatment begins with a psychiatric evaluation to confirm the diagnosis, review prior medication trials and screen for safety concerns. If Spravato is appropriate, our team also reviews insurance authorization, appointment frequency and transportation requirements before the first dose.

Each dose is self-administered under clinical supervision. Patients remain at the clinic for required monitoring and must arrange transportation home after treatment.

Take the First Step Toward Relief

If you’ve tried multiple antidepressants without meaningful improvement or are struggling with suicidal thoughts, Spravato® may offer the breakthrough you need.

Spravato® is FDA-approved for adults with treatment-resistant depression and for those experiencing major depressive disorder (MDD) with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. It’s used in combination with an oral antidepressant when other treatments haven’t worked.

Unlike most antidepressants that affect serotonin or dopamine, Spravato® targets the brain’s glutamate system. It helps “reset” how the brain responds to mood and stress by strengthening connections between brain cells. This is why many patients feel relief faster often within the first few doses.

You’ll self-administer the nasal spray in our clinic under medical supervision. After dosing, you’ll rest for about two hours in a private room while we monitor your blood pressure and how you’re feeling. You may feel sleepy, dizzy, or detached, this is normal and usually fades quickly.

No. Due to possible short-term side effects like drowsiness or dissociation, you won’t be allowed to drive after treatment. Please arrange for someone to take you home after each session.

Spravato® is typically given twice a week for the first month, then once a week, and eventually once every two weeks for maintenance. We’ll tailor the schedule based on how you respond to treatment.

Yes, when administered in a clinical setting. It’s FDA-approved and has been safely used by thousands of patients across the U.S. You’ll be closely monitored before, during, and after each session to ensure your safety.

Spravato® may not be right for you if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, vascular conditions like aneurysms, a history of brain bleeding, or if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. We’ll do a thorough screening to make sure it’s safe before beginning treatment.
