Take the First Step Toward Stability and Healing

Whether your teen is struggling or just not feeling like themselves lately, early support makes a world of difference. Let’s work together to build the foundation for a healthier future.

It’s completely normal for teens to experience mood swings, stress, or emotional ups and downs. But if your teen’s behavior has noticeably changed or if their moods, anxiety, or withdrawal are affecting their daily life, it may be more than just hormones. Signs to watch for include:

  • Persistent sadness or irritability
  • Drop in grades or motivation
  • Avoiding friends or school
  • Trouble sleeping or eating
  • Self-harm or talk of hopelessness

When these symptoms last more than a few weeks or feel “not like them”, it’s time to talk to a professional. Early intervention can prevent years of unnecessary struggle.

The first visit begins with a comprehensive evaluation by Dr. Tareen or a licensed clinician. It’s not rushed but a thoughtful conversation about what’s going on emotionally, socially, and academically.

We typically start with guardians(s) and teen in the room, then speak to the adolescent one-on-one (if they’re comfortable) so they can speak freely. We also review medical and mental health history, family dynamics, and school-related concerns. This lays the foundation for a care plan that feels respectful, and safe for everyone involved.

Every treatment plan is personalized based on your teen’s needs. It may include:

  • Talk therapy like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help manage thoughts and emotions
  • Medication management if needed, using a cautious, evidence-based approach
  • Parent coaching to strengthen communication and structure at home
  • School coordination when academic stress is a trigger or barrier
  • TMS or Ketamine therapy may be considered for older teens

The goal is always to support your teen’s healing, resilience, and sense of agency without overmedicating or oversimplifying.

You’ll absolutely be involved because healing works best as a team effort. Depending on the teen’s age and comfort level, we involve parents or guardians in planning, progress reviews, and (when helpful) parts of therapy. But we also make space for your teen to speak privately, build trust with our staff, and feel ownership over their growth. It’s a careful balance and we guide you through it every step of the way.

There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline. Some teens see significant progress in just a few months, while others may benefit from longer-term support depending on the severity or complexity of their symptoms.

We regularly track:

  • Mood and behavior changes
  • Academic or social improvements
  • Parent and teen feedback
  • Symptom rating tools and clinical milestones

Most importantly, we check in often and honestly. If something isn’t working, we adjust. And when things start to shift for the better, you’ll feel in your home, your routines, and your teen’s confidence.
